Default Smoking with sugar cane.

Good day all.

I wanted to know some info on smoking with certain woods. I want to make a business for my family in the Philippines that has to do with good 'ol traditional real American BBQ. The woods they use for smoking over there is Sugar Cane primarily. Is sugar cane any good on poultry, beef, pork? But can coconut husks or trees be used? i mean they do have other fruit trees like, orange, pamelo, lemon, lime, some apple orchards. But i know mangos trees cannot be used since they are part of the Poison Ivy family. Any good insite would help. thank you in advance.3

There was a great thread on here showing a village pig roast in the Phillipines, and they used coconut shells as fuel, and I know there are coconut charcoal briquettes on the market that claim to burn hotter and longer tha regular hardwood charcoal.
I've heard about using cane too, but I don't know if it's better to juice first or just add it to the coals.

Down here is south Louisiana alot of the "old timers" still use sugar cane for smoking their andouilles sausages. I have used it before and it gives a very mellow smoke flavor to the meat.

I have never thought of Mango Wood

Here is a discussion on the smoke ring that says they have used it.

I don't know but maybe you can get some info from them.
