OK that's not true. It started with smoked duck breast. WSM with hickory.
Some green Chiles from the garden got roasted on the fire basket of the WSM.
Cooked some bacon in the DO on the Weber. Also roasted some garlic.
Then celery and red onions in the DO in some of the bacon fat.
Mixed in a couple pints of fire roasted tomatoes from the pantry, and three cans of black beans.
The duck hunks got sliced and diced and added in the mix along with the crisp bacon.
Some pale ale and fresh picked parsley. Add some chili powder and cumin and it's time to simmer for a while.

Some pics to look at...

In a bowl with smoked cheddar and sour cream.

But oh...The leftovers.
Chili cheese fries...

And that's it. Duck chili. Or is it duck soup???

Every since I read a book that described original “real” chili.
Spring onions, local herbs, spicy chile and Spanish Conquistador for the original meat, I entered a no judgement zone.
Now that’s a bowl of Red

I'd queue for a bowl of that... especially if you're going to tease me with "duck chili-cheese fries!"

Love it, man. I see hearty goodness for the next few days.
