Desserts..what about nuts
I have always heard stay away from nuts on turn ins because a judge might be alergic..but would they really be judging a contest when they had food alergies? I have a good dessert with pecans and was wondering what everyone else thought.. Thanks for any input

We've thought about that as well, but we've turned in a couple of desserts with nuts and have done well. I think some one with a nut allergy would either not be judging, or would simply not taste anything with nuts that were obvious.

What about Trish Trigg's famous pecan pie?
We've seen desserts with tree nuts and peanuts both win -- apparently no problems.

Ask at the cooks meeting, that way the Reps can give a heads up to the judges the next day.

Anyone with a food allergy should not be doing blind judging, period. You have no way of knowing what is in the food. I'd say put in the nuts.

This is one of the first things brought up at the CBJ classes that I have attended. Same goes for seafood.
