It's a plate steel box within another steel box. There is a 2" gap all around (except the door) that is filled with 2" Roxul mineral wool. Its fire rated. I saw a build were a guy had his bare hand on top of the fire box with the fire going inside. It will use less fuel. We plan to use thicker steel on the door & back.

Huntin Smoke cut the 2nd door out, added the straps and welded on the other handle.
This door warped for some reason. It stuck out about 5/16" in the lower right hand corner. Warping the doors seems to be a problem with cutting and welding tanks. We studies on-line for the best way to fix the problem. No real good solutions that we could find. We came up with a idea that worked. We tack welded the warped door to one of the feet that we cut off before. We did not tack the part of the door that we wanted to bend. We attached our homemade rod clamp and tightened it up. It bent the door in just the right spot without changing the shape of the good part of door. I haven't seen anyone else with a good fix. This worked great! Problem fixed!

Channel tubing to build the Saddle Legs to mount the smoker onto the trailer. made from more scrap.
Chimney base elbow made from the foot plate from the compressor tank. [

I just started last year. Huntin Smoke is teaching me. He does the important welds. I do simple stuff. It just takes practice.

I am looking forward to getting it mounted to the trailer. I am so glad the door is fixed and we don't have the big gap at the bottom of the door.

a few questions, like I said before I am building almost the same smoker, Should I cut off the plugs and weld in a plate so the tank is smooth first, or cut the doors then cut off the plugs? thanks

Huntin Smoke & I have decided not to cut all of the plugs out. Thats a lot of work just for looks. The chimney exhaust will take care of one of them on the end. We positioned the doors so that the large plugs would be in the back or on the bottom. There is a small plug that we could use for a wireless thermometer. It is in front under the door. Then again, we could change our minds.
