I appreciate your patience with me as I try to figure out which new weapon to add to the arsenal. I am keeping my Horizon off-set. However, I am looking for a set it and forget it unit for comps and catering - primarily something that won't take so much of my attention away from my little boys. I'm looking at both models. I have a great quote on an FEC, I believe as low as they can be bought. I have also gotten some great thoughts from Boondoggle Bob, who has both.

Do any of you own, or use, both these units. If I got a Backwoods it would have the Guru and heat plate. Can you help me with pros and cons? If you could only have once cooker, which one would you buy?

Brewmaster had a Backwoods. It's not as "set it and forget it" as you think compared to the FEC100. FEC100 is a lot easier to clean, and much more user friendly than you will ever imagine. BTW, there is a FEC100 on the B/S/T on Basso's forum with IQ4 for $2500. If it were a left handed model I'd be jumpin on it.
