Brethren and Sisters,

I'm teaching a class on how to build a UDS class this weekend.

We're going low tech to keep the costs down since we're getting re-conditioned drums. Here's what we're going with.

Drum - 30.00 - totally clean.
Magnets for openings - 2.00
Screws, Washers, nuts - 5.00
Garage Door Handles - 3.00
basket - 12.00
Spicewine Temp Gauge - 20.00
Grill - 7.00

We'll be drilling the holes in the lid for vents.

3x 1" holes in the bottom
8 x 1/2" holes in the lid

I'm making the grills and fire grates out of 3/4" 9gg expanded metal.
The fire grate can be anywhere from 13" to 14.5" in diameter - opinions welcome.
The cooking grate is being cut from a template of an actual weber grate.
The sides of the basket are made out of 1/2" 10gg expanded metal.

Thoughts? I'm using the PPT and the discussions from this forum for the work book for everyone to use. Love some feedback if you've got it.

There will be 10 people attending. All proceeds go to the site.

Sounds like a good plan bob, don't forget some bolts for the feet on the baskets.
Maybe Smokeandbeer can give you a hand, or is he taking the class?

That is an AWESOME idea!

How many others could produce a training session using the information gathered here and donate the proceeds to this site?

Way to be!

Is that what you did with yours?

That is an absolutely brilliant idea. Be sure to let us know how it goes.

Commute is a bit far for me... Besides I have to work Sunday. It sounds like a good/informative time is to be had. Great idea Bob!

Try 2 1'' holes in the bottom.

Wyatt will be doing something similar at the Chili Cookoff. Except on Fox TV.
Building the smoker right in front of everyone, then placing it in the raffle.

Geez, Bob. You're like the Gene Simmons of the BBQ World, aren't ya?? If I can make money from it, I'm doin' it. WTG!!

Considering that I just lost my job and that I now have oodles of free time, Im in!!!!
