Default Difference between burn barrel and 55 gallon drum?

Is there one? I decided I'd like to make a UDS myself rather than buy one. This person has what looks like a normal 55g drum but calls it a burn barrel.

http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/grd/4487679159.html

I'd call and ask him directly but it's the fourth and figured someone here would probably know.

There's another listing that's about 45 mins farther away that looks like a lock if this is questionable at all.

Thank you,

Jerry

In my area some ppl use them for burning trash.. I've also heard burning as to keep warm when outside in the winter months..

Just ask if they are lined an if not scoop one up an you'll be fine..

Basically they are the same thing..

Jerry, where are you in West Chester? I'd love to grab one of those barrels too, Limerick isn't all that far. Marc

2 miles from downtown. About a mile from Hillsdale elementary.

I agree about limerick being easy. The other choice is in Bristol. $30 for 55g metal food grade with lids. I'd rather not go that far.

I'll check with the burn barrel guy in Monday and let you know.

I'm about the same distance but on the other side, really close to Rustin High. Definitely keep me in the loop, I've been wanting to build one of these for quite a while now.

Around me, burn barrels have holes already punched in the lower portion. Make sure you check before making the drive.

Dumb question. 55gal unlined but not food grade. I assume that's out of the question then.

When I get back from vacation I'll check out the one further say but food grade.
