Default Lyfe Tyme smoker with frozen wheels

Ok people far smarter than I...I need help. The wheels on my Lyfe Time smoker have become frozen. They won't budge at all. I've tried penetrating oil and heating the small axle up with a torch (not red hot though). I've pounded on them with a small sledge hammer. They are still stuck and so am I. Any ideas???

Might let the penetrating oil sit for a while and see what that does. I’m interested into seeing what works.

Hard to say without looking at them. Try spray the hell out of it with PB Blaster and let it soak a couple hours. That stuff works great.

You might try a synthetic motor oil like Royal Purple or what not.

It looks like the wheel is welded to the axel.

Send it to me- I don't care if the wheels turn or not.

penetrating oil and time- it did not seize up right away- it might not loosen up right away either.

Look up candle wax and seized bolts.

My dad had some stuck bolts be tried everything on and it didn’t work. Then some candle wax and popped loose like nothing.

Default Kroil

If you've an industrial supply store in town, pick up a bottle of Kroil. It's the best penetrating oil I've ever used. Might find it in a gun shop as well, some of the benchrest guys I know use it as a cleaning solvent. It's a little pricey.
Give it a chance to work, as previously mentioned.

What you need is an air hammer and a chain wrench. For penetrating oil use a 50/50 mix acetone and ATF. FWIW I'm a mechanic.

This is good advise. I needed to change buckets on my backhoe and nothing I tried would get the pivot pins loose. A friend that worked in the oil field at that time stopped at the house one day and I told him about the stuck pivot pins, he had a can of Aerokroil in his truck and said all their trucks had this stuff in their tool box because it was the best they had ever used. He sprayed some on the pins and in just a few minutes I drove them out with a punch and hammer with no problem. Aerokroil is just the aerosol version of Kroil.

That looks like they slid the wheel into the axle then put a sleeve on the end of the axle and welded it on. I’d need a closer look but it looks like the parting line between the wheel and the sleeve is where I put the yellow line in the photo below.

Soak that like and the line on the back of the wheel with Kroil or the atf/acetone mix for a few days with a jolt or a wiggle a few times a day and hopefully it will listen up. Mapp gas and a good torch wouldn’t hurt either.

If you want to remove the wheel use a grinder to remove the welds at the end of the axle.

Kroil is awesome stuff.

See if you can get a long bar between the spokes somehow. You need more leverage.
