I know this may sound silly but I am new to egg cookers. I thought I had heard that the outside of the grill doesn't get hot, cool enough to touch. I have not found that to be the case in my first 4 uses. Is the cool to to touch just a sales pitch or only apply if you keep the temp very low.

Hello!! That cool to the touch thing is all relative, especially based on the internal temp and what 'cool' is being compared to.

I find that even at high temps, the BGE isn't skin searing hot during a quick touch....compared to a 'metal' pit that will sear the heck out of your fingers or arm if you brush up against it.

Just my dime's worth....

 If it burns your hand just quit fondling your egg.

I find when it's 0 deg F outside my UCC (Ugly Ceramic Cooker) warms your hands up quite nicely, LOL from the Great White North.
