New guy: reading Bib Bob Gibsons's BBQ Book
I've been doing plenty of reading and research on bbq. Even narrowing down smokers to reverse flow offset style as where I think I'm headed.
I have to say, the book is very enjoyable so far. Lots of interesting information and a good place to start as far as recipes go. The forum is very informative. I'm always getting hungry just being here. Thanks all! Bob |

Being from Decatur Al here with Big Bob Gibson's I gotta say I do enjoy their food (specially loaded potato with pulled pork or brisket), but I bet it doesn't hold a candle in the wind to his comp Q. Bet his book has some great info, I'm ashamed to say I don't have the book.

It's a great book, and I have cooked many good things from that book.

Welcome to the forums. That is a great book to get ideas from. Another book I would suggest is Serious Barbecue by Adam Perry Lang.

Thank you. I will look for his book too.
I have the Miron Mixon books and they are ok. This one is very informative. I finished reading though my first pass last night. Now to go back and pick out things to try! |

Welcome to the brethren. That's a great book, try the pig dip, it's great on pulled pork sammiches.

I have never made anything out of that book that wasn't good. It is a keeper for at-home BBQ.

One of my favorite books not just for the recipes but the way the information and history is presented. The mushrooms, tri-tip, mushroom crusted loin and wing sauces are all excellent.

LOL. I haven't heard that term in 30 years. The wife's grandparents had these on their farm in Louisiana.

Welocme brother!
The BBG book is fantastic - everything I've done out of there is a winner. Don't pass up the sweet potatoes with maple pecan butter - easy to make and seriously good side!
