I like top sirloin better. I'm from Lompoc, CA about 25 miles from Santa Maria so I'm very familiar with Santa Maria style BBQ. I've burned lots of red oak. I know SM style BBQ. But to be honest I'd rather buy top sirloin blocks and cut them up into tri-tip sized roast and bbq them instead. At Cash and Carry I can get angus TS for cheaper than tri-tip. I cut some into steaks and leave some bigger chunks for SM style. I smoked a tri-tip today and it was ok.

Hmmmm, cheaper eh? I'll have to go by C&C and see if they're carrying that cut up here also. I probably would go for the Top Sirloin also, a much tastier cut. But Tri-tip you can't beat because of the flavor + price. If these are cheaper, I'll have to check them out. Thanks!
