I received an e mail from Melinda. She advises the dates for the Diamond State BBQ contest will be 10/17-10/18. The dates are not posted on the KCBS site yet, but I think they will be good.
 
Thanks for the update George. I want to go back and cook Dover again but, NOT solo and with an RV. :)
 
Same weekend as Sayville, again...Brendan? Sled? Anyone?
 
We'll Be there! With RV and Lots of anchors. We were spared last year. But everyone around us was flattened. shame 2 yrs running now.

If they are the same weekend, we'll do both again. Will however leave for Dover, thursday night. I'm not spending all day in NY traffic again.


The anchors to the tents weren't the issue... those didn't go anywhere. My big issue came when the frame to the tent broke under the wind pressure, the tent was no longer tied to the anchors... We also thought we were in the clear, went to help some neighbors... and the next gust came through. Didn't help.

I wouldn't miss Battle of the BBQ Brethren for the world. Lot's of beer, food, fun and comraderie.
 
Hey everyone - Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a nice holiday.

We'll be in Dover again. Just got our camper (RV) back a few weeks ago from getting fixed from the "tornado". Thank God for insurance. I'm sure it will be windy there again unfortunately, being on the infield is like being in a big bowl. They had a reported wind gust there yesterday of 40 mph so I think the area is windy any time.

Take care all - we may not be signed on here for a few more days.
 
3 Eyz BBQ will be there. Looking forward to it again. It's grown nicely after the 1st and 2nd year...
 
Does anybody know when do you have to be out of the race track after the event? For this year, I'm looking at renting a travel trailer from an outfit down there, where they bring it in and set it up and then take it back when we are done. I can't find Melindas email or phone number, and just need to know when that camper would have to be taken away for sure.
And if anyone else is interested in doing the same thing let me know, and I'll give the info I got so far. Thanks folks,,

We stayed at our site with our camper Saturday night last year - and so did only maybe 3 other teams. It was nice to not have to rush out of there. They didn't have a problem with us leaving on Sunday - I don't know if they would do the same this year. We are planning to stay Saturday night also - as long as they don't have a problem with it.
 
I thought there was a few that stayed last year, with us renting the camper (hopefully if it works out) it would be nice to stay till sunday, then we wouldn't have to rush around to pack up saturday and drive 6hrs home tired,,lol.. have to have alittle party saturday night..lol..

Actually, we were all partied out by Saturday night and were in bed and asleep by 9:30... but this year will be another year. A nice little campfire would be cool - if we don't get blown away by the wind storm! It was nice though to stay Saturday night and to go in and walk around the casino and play some slots. I saw smokers in the parking lot on Sunday morning, so some people stayed in the casino too.
