Maybe we're flying over the shark with this one, but I'm gonna post this anyway!

Yes, you can order this from A.sweeT

Now, before some folks misunderstand the intent, nature, or source of this Throwdown please refer to the following:
1. The innocent announcement of "Top Gun Day" http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=106339
2. Various posts and such disparaging the idea, this was just one http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=106445
3. Note in the above how Phil himself resurrected the thread announcing "Top Gun Week".
4. Posts made in the Penalty Box during the period of "Top Gun Day" beginning towards the bottom of this page, and continuing over the next couple of pages http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46200&page=288

So, anyone who feels the Navy, or the movie "Top Gun" is being slighted in any way, can fark the fark off for not understanding this is all in fun, and I am not the one who made the gay/not gay references. It was the Top Gun haters that did.

With that out of the way...

I am sure you are wondering just what the fark kind of food theme this one is, and what you can cook. Well, I'm not sure either but I'll toss a couple ideas out there...

- Top "Gun" Roast:bow:
- Any food that straddles the definition of gay/not gay, like quiche:tape:
- Any food that has a Navy reference, like Navy Beans, or...something else:becky:
- Any food that otherwise makes people think of fighters or pilots or whatever:roll:

Frankly, you get to explain to me, and to the Brethren (and Sisteren) how your dish ties in to "Top Gun".

Now for the rules...

NO RULES!!!

You all get to be "Maverick's" on this one.:thumb::heh: One word of advice though...you should probably get your food through the "Danger Zone"!

Just remember that your dish will be judged by others, and the only way you can win is with an entry they feel they can vote for.

Now then...

I feel the need...

The need for...

FOOD!

I am so not touching this one. Literally and figuratively...

Based on a response here, and a PM from someone else, there could be some (understandable) confusion about this Throwdown.

So, anyone who feels the Navy, or the movie "Top Gun" is being slighted in any way, can fark the fark off for not understanding this is all in fun and making fun of the big clusterfark caused by other people's somewhat inappropriate responses to "Top Gun Day", and that I am not the one who made the gay/not gay references. It was the Top Gun haters that did.

So, let's please continue. Participation is voluntary as always, but any farkers coming in here trying to cause trouble thinking this is some "gay bashing" or "don't ask don't tell" political fiasco will find themselves moderated with extreme prejudice.:mod:

^^^ I'm not even going to comment on that, nor on the resulting "thanks"

Go ahead and comment. I'll bet you anything you'll be wrong on why I said I was back in. (Hint: it has nothing to do with Chris's post and more to do with Guerry's)

Well, I do feel sorry for Chris now. He seemed so excited. You do realize that Michele might be just a wee bit jealous, and I don't think I'd want to be tangling with her. She's got a 2x4 and is not afraid to use it. :tsk:

I may have an advantage here as I was in the Navy and experienced their compelling cuisine!! My gut instinct tells me that a representative food would have to be "Creamed, chipped beef on toast" or better know as "S*hit on a shingle". However, I don't know how to make it look appealing..... This may required extensive research!

:boxing:^^^^^I thought the US Army invented that dish :-D We called "SOS" BUTT  I agree how do a person make it look good...

Ummmm, what's the time frame for this TD?

I guess I'll leave this one open until June 5th. More of a "Top Gun Month" I suppose.

I should be drunk enough between now and then to come up with something. I'm turning a half-century old on June 3rd, so maybe I'll invent something totally insane to celebrate that milestone -- although I have a feeling that the police would have some issues with me smoking Tom Cruise's balls -- assuming he still has them.

Is there any kind of meat that scientologists can't eat? Not that I care, but for the sake of authenticity, it might be something worth knowing.
