I was hoping some one here would have chimed in, I'm super curious about this too. I guess it's around $40 so, not a huge investment if it turns out to be crap

I have the Hunsaker Vortex plate for the WSM and love it. This looks looks like a knock off on their idea. However, the design of the Hunsaker will naturally create even airflow temps as well as prevent drippings from directly hitting the coals. I'm not sure about this on the Firedial.

I've only done 1 cook with it so far on my 22 (ribs). Seems to work exactly as advertised - flavor is kind of 1/2-way between PBC-style and traditional. If it continues to work well through this season, I'll grab a 2nd one for my 18.
