HI. I just got a new char griller HELP !

On sunday i used my new bbq for the 1st time. An ez beer can chicken. It took over 4 hours to cook . I could not get the temp. up to 250. I was using the side smoker box. How much coal must I use? And should I have used the indirect method? HELP thanks . Buttsmoker.:eusa_clap

One or two chimneys full with the damper wide open should get you up to temp. And remember to use some kind of grate thermometer and not the stock thermometer in the lid, that one will read ~10 or 20 below.

The baffel mod can be attached to smoker using the top 3 nuts and bolts holding the firebox to the smoker.

The exhaust mod is flexable duct that has a magnet to hold it to the frt of lid.

The charcole box gives me a 6hr burn at 225 1 hr to get there and 5 hrs cooking.

My smoke stack extention doesn't need to be held against the lid, but I do have a clamp holding it to the stack.

Could you use the existing lower grate turned upside down instead of the baffle?

What are the dimensions on your charcoal box?

Yes, that's what I do. Much easier than the other baffle mod. Also, I recommend that if you flip the grate, you cover it in hd alum foil... for easy cleanup.
