Imperial kamado repair/restoration
Hey all,
My friend has been fixing up a house for his aunt and I went to visit and see how it was going. When he showed me the back yard they had a beautiful kamado grill going unloved in the corner of the yard. I told him what it was and he said, "Oh really? I was going to throw it out. You can have it if you want." So I loaded it into my truck and took it home. After a couple google searches I saw that there were some members on your forum who had repaired similar kamados. So here's what I've got and what I think I need to fix:2014-08-23 12.25.03.jpg 2014-08-23 12.25.09.jpg 2014-08-23 12.25.21.jpg 2014-08-23 12.25.33.jpg 2014-08-23 12.25.44.jpg 2014-08-23 12.26.11.jpg 2014-08-23 12.26.25.jpg 2014-08-23 12.26.59.jpg 2014-08-23 12.27.04.jpg There's a giant crack running up the side of the grill. What would people suggest for that? There's also a few cracks in the fire ring. Will I need to repair those? THe bottom had fallen out and I saved the pieces. Should I try and cement them all back together or find another solution? I'm going to get rid of the rust on all the pieces that I can and repaint them. I would like to get a new base for it (it's very rusted) does anyone have any suggestions? I've been trying to find out who the maker is but the only identifying mark is the stamp on the lid which I've included a picture of. Any help on this would be great! Thanks all! |
