Table mods for comps

So ive heard of folks modifying the table legs so they will be up higher like counter top level vs table , but i have a guess on how its done.

Anyone have the blueprints so to speak ? lol...

Our 1st comp coming up in few weeks trying get all geared up.

I raise my tables and sink up by using PVC pipe.

PVC extensions are easy for curved leg tables, I think mine are 15" with end caps. Straight let tables need some bolts for the height adjustment. This VIDEO shows both methods.

The table that we use at steak cook offs has stubby legs and won't work with PVC pipes so we use bed risers similar to these. Picked them up at a thrift store for a couple of dollars.

I used pvc extensions for awhile but didn't like how wobbly the table felt. I ended up just making some risers out of 2x6 scraps I had laying around. Table height is at 40" but since the legs are still the same height it's solid as can be.

PVC here. Probably depends on how the legs are made, but mine is not wobbly at all. The base is actually wider with the legs so it is more stable.

I found that 2" pvc cut to 18" work best for me. I'm 6', and it's like the perfect height for me. No wobble.

pvc and no wobble for me either. but my pvc is tight on the legs too.

I envisioned this thread to be about cook teams wanting a moderator at each judging table watching the judges making sure they judged correctly!

I've got a set that are 1-1/4" and a set that are 1-1/2" PVC. No real noticeable difference and not wobbly at all. We keep our cambro on one and do a lot of the slicing on the other. I've never noticed or complained about the wobble.

I oversized my pipes and that way they spread out and I just hammer them into the sturdy as could be.

In agreement here, mine are not wobbly and the pvc doen'st take up much space. We carry 4 sets in my trailer, cost about $20 and took 5 minutes to make.

We used to do PVC as well with no wobble issues. In our new trailer, we don't have tables to lift, so we don't use them anymore, though I have them on a table in my garage I use when I'm cooking at home.

Do you have a couple extra team members that can stand at each end and hold it up? Very adjustable that way.
