I've started making some review videos now that I've got my hands on one of the new LSG 20x42 offsets. As far as I know, these are the first review videos done by a consumer for this new line. LSG has made three review videos of their own to date, and those are very good. I've made two of my own so far and plan to make two to four more this month. I started this thread to compile all the links in one spot as I know several of you are either considering buying one, or are just curious when something new comes out :) I'll update this thread as often as I can when new videos become available, feel free to do the same.

That’s one purdy cooker you have. Very exciting when the pallet jack bottomed out at the end of the lift! Congratulations and thank you for being an enabler to all brethren smokers.

Everything about that beast is killer! Great job on the vids.
Looks like a perfect amount of rack space, and with the even temps side to side, you can use every inch of it.

I will critique one thing tho(if I'm seeing it correctly)
The "hinge" made of bolts for the front shelf ride on threads. I would expect them to wear with frequent use, and also wear the milled channels they ride in (I expect you'll be collapsing it after each cook for easier storage). I'm surprised they didn't add a collar with a second nut securing it. It would wear much slower, and could easily be replaced.

If it were mine, I would replace the shelf "hinge" bolts with SS shoulder bolts with a low profifle head from the inside out. ...with an acorn nut on the outside. I just suspect you'll see the shelf sagging soon as those bolt threads wear.
Everything else looks perfect!

If you don't mind me asking, what was the total bill with mods n shipping?

In response to the shelf scratching leg..maybe glue a rubber foot under the shelf where it hits the leg. Out of sight, but prevents metal to metal.

I’m thinking that baffle system acts a bit like a reverse flow. Really wonder about the Feldon type calculations as those top and bottom openings on that baffle don’t seem very large.

Can’t wait to see the seasoning and first cook videos!

Also, does that griddle in the firebox come out or is it welded into the hinge?

More a new design than a redesign as they still make their other pits. That baffle probably works on the venturi principle and draws air across the bottom of the cook chamber.

I love your idea about testing the temp of the griddle plate while smoking meat at the same time. Looking forward to hearing about what you found.

I really like the looks of these cookers

See Now, I had said in your earlier thread it must have a baffle that directs Smoke n Heat up, then we saw the pics and video from LSG and it Looked like it didn't.....But then of course it does.......:twitch:

If'n I didn't have what I Already Have and had some Cash -- I'd be Gettin One of these things. :heh:

Those are great ideas on the bolts. Yes, the shelf seemed like the weakest link on the whole setup, but it looks so good I didn't even notice what you caught :) I'm not super handy so I hadn't heard of shoulder bolts, therefore I appreciate the pic. Total bill was right around $2250 or $2300 I believe (it's been a month since I paid). The smoker was 1795. Shipping was almost exactly 300 including residential liftgate service. So my additions were pretty small. $200 or so.

Damn, you keep your stack of wood in the garage? Balls man!

I have to :/ Socialist townhouse association has two separate packets of rules documents :mad2: I don't even own the grass my smoker will be occupying each cook.

I never even heard of Feldon :) Y'all teach me new stuff every time I post a thread!

The griddle comes completely out and you can then use the expanded metal cooking grate below it if you want to grill a steak over direct flame in your firebox. Additionally, that cooking grate can be lowered down right above the coals for a hot sear, or the charcoal grate can be raised to right below the cooking grate for the same purpose. Very handy little details in that firebox.

I was thinking they discontinued their traditional 20" smokers and if you order a 20" now this is the only style you can get. If you want a traditional round one you have to order the 24" series. However, I may have misunderstood so I could be wrong on that.

Never heard of Venturi but I'll be googling that for sure :)

Good, informative video review! Keep 'em coming, thank you!

Thank you very much! I hope to get more done next weekend, but this week is going to be incredibly busy for me....which means no cooking :( But I'll be back at it as soon as I can. A few more unanswered questions from a much earlier Brethren thread that I want to get to.

I am too! That and the grass test are the two things I'm most curious about. And yes, I've actually waited to roll it out onto the grass until I get home and have time to make a video so that you can all find out with me at the same [tape-delayed] moment whether she rolls on grass. I must really like you guys ;)

You sure did! I had forgotten that. You were right on.

I'd love to see you be able to getcha one! If you ever do, I want to see some cook videos :)
