Help with Grill Surface Thermometer
http://www.amazon.com/Kingsford-KTH1...ref=pd_sbs_k_1
I'm looking to buy something like this to measure the temp on a pizza stone in my Kamado. Does anyone have any experience with this or one like it? I'm NOT going to spend the money to buy an IR thermometer that will read that high :)

You could always try this. For the money, hard to beat.
I just got mine a couple days ago and it seems to work but I haven't used it a lot. http://www.amazon.com/HDE-Temperatur...1400498&sr=8-1 The specs say +/- 2° F and the range is negative 50° - +716° so I figured I'd edit and post it to save a step plus it's on the Amazon page as well.

Heck, when I posted the link this morning, it was still $16, now it's $10 for whatever reason an hour later. Half hour later, back to $16 again for whatever reason.

I'm not trying to sell this to anyone but for $16, I took a chance. Since I haven't used mine much, some folks might find this picture of help.
Thermo in my den that measures outside temps and indoor (I have them all over the house) is in the background. It's 12:13 pm and 76.3° in my den. Pointing the infrared at the thermo makes sense to me. Measure the themo. The infrared reads 76.2° So, I figure the tolerance is pretty darn good or I have two piece of crap thermos that are off by the same amount.

I got the Outset brand one that is identical. It takes a long time to get to temp.
I wouldn't get it again.

Not the laser one, the one from the OP. Mine takes like 10 minutes or more. Seriously.

For $16 I ordered the IR thermometer. I have one that I paid $40 for a while back but it tops out at under 500 degrees. This cheap one will work fine for getting my pizza stone temps...
