Whew! My hiney is DRAGGIN!

It was like working my butt off in a meat locker. (It was REALLY cold!)

But it was worth it. Goal was to have fun - and that I did!

It was great to put some faces to the names around here.

AND - Huge Congrats to the Mo-Kan Smokers who managed to up their game to grab Reserve Grand Champions! [applause] Way to go guys!

And a special thank you to Bruno who is Hawg's bro-in-law. He was going to meet them at their house to help unload the smokers, etc. so I could head straight for the hacienda here in Larryville. I'm here now . . . and boy! I am tired. But it's that Good Tired when you've just been through a challenge and managed to survive intact.

Nice margarita machine, Wayne!

/Brother Dave

Got to meet Hawgsnheifers and Puppyboy - and good to see everyone else. I'll post some pics of our snow/rain/hail/thunderstorm.

I think the final official count was 7 inches for us. The first several that fell melted into a slurry with the rain from the previous 5 hours.

Congrats to the MoKan boys!!! Reserve Grand Champs

Default Survived my first comp... Didn't come in last...

I'm am dead tired but it's a good tired. If it weren't for Brother Dave and his bacon, sausage and eggs cooked in a cast iron skillet on the Dera this morning, I may have packed up and called it quites. But after it's all over I know that it has to get better than this. Fighting snow so big the flash from my camera made it look like a UFO, to temps in the low 30's, wind and accumulating snow on the easy up, we made it through. Here are just a few pics I thought I would share. I have to say that I'm a little dissapointed with the results. Brisket has been one of my strong suits with lots of folks telling me that it tastes fantastic. The number add up but 45th out of 60? David's chicken took 16th and my ribs, which I have to admit were overcooked got 52nd with pork, which is what I would consider my weak area coming in 32nd. Oh we'll. Next time hopefully the weather will cooperate.

Congratulations to Mo Kan Meatheads on Reserve. You guys have definatly worked hard to get it there and today the Judges confirmed it. Thanks for the pointers on the presentation box.

Here is the pics for your viewing pleasure.

I would agree Kapn. I don't think this years Polor Swine had anything on us except maybe some colder temps. Snow was so heavy it bend some of the cross supports on the EZ up just a bit. Good thing I didn't opt for the cheap EZ ups. Probably would have been down under the weight.

Funny thing was 30 miles to the north, no snow, and I think down south of the comp, no snow. We're so lucky....

Thanks, Kapn - but my vote for the REAL "Survivor" was Puppyboy and his crew. They were doin' it Hard Core style with just a few tarps hooked up to his pickup for cover.

At least I got the cushy assignment of sleeping in Todd's camper!
