Default wood used for comps

I have been wondering about trying something differant with my wood I use during the very cold winter months. I use debarked hickory and I now have access to a kiln. My question is this would it be wise to kiln dry some of my wood to use to get my smoker going in the weeee hours of the morning when is freezing out just to helkp get my pit up to temp and then once it gets up use my normal wood? I have read past threads and it looked like the only down fall was less flavor from the smoke. Any of yall ever experimented with this?

Getting your cooker up to temp with Kiln wood is good and then once up to temp burn the good stuff!

Or just by a Weedburner and start the fire that way....it also heats up cooking chamber at same time.

Bingo!

Also, once the fire gets going, I store a couple of pieces of wood on top of my fire box to get them 'Pre-Heated'...

If it don't come off a smoker, it's just a side dish!
