So if I were gonna get a brisket, I'd head over to wally's and pick out a nice choice packer in the 9 to 10 lb range that has an evenly thick flat and a decent point.

The real deal is when wallyworlds' packer briskets get close to the sell by date. They will mark them down to around $1.25 a lb, and they were nice enough to wet age them for me.

Good stuff here! I pay $2.99# and can go through as many as I like till I find what I'm looking for at my buddy's BBQ place. He gets a pallet in every Tuesday.

Angus choice consistently $2.30 per pound (case lot of 5@15 pound average) when I need quantity or usually $2.60 per pound from my butcher/BBQer buddy when I only need one or two (but he does pick out nice ones for me).

It's in the $4.50 - $4.99/lb range around here, and the only way I get a packer is if I order it from my butcher and I am scared of what he will charge me since all his meat is Prime.
I am half tempted to get some of the Texas Brethern to ship me some packers...

I saw choice CAB packers yesterday for $2.54/lb, which is pretty typical. The same outfit has select for the same price...

I envy all of you who can actually get brisket in your area... Can't find it in a single grocery store in the area, would probably have to travel 3.5 hours to Appleton/Green Bay's Sams Club to possibly find it.. Been wanting to try a brisket for a few years now, but IMO it's not worth the $6-7 a pound to have it specially ordered from the one butcher shop that would actually try and find it for me. The pains of living in the northern Midwest...

I noted $2.58 at Walmart today, but I did not notice if it was Select or Choice. I wasn't buying, just was curious. I was in GFS right after that, and saw Choice for $2.49. Sams here only has flats. I think they may be $4.99, as someone else mentioned. I'm not certain. I do know that a friend bought 4 of those flats from Sam's a few weeks ago, so that I could cook them for his son's graduation party. They were in cryo, not trimmed of fat, but without the point. They cooked very nicely, and were delicious.
As a side note, the reason that I was in both Walmart and GFS today was that I was buying spares. The Walmart spares were "enhanced". I read that, and left the store. GFS had spares for $0.10 more ($2.09 vs $1.99), no added "solution".
