So I'm looking at the grills on Wally World's website for schnitzengiggles to see what it'd run to grab a kettle lid for my UDS and I'm looking at their cheapo and I noticed the charcoal grate is "Zinc coated." From everything that I've read zinc is a no-no, especially on the charcoal grate/basket. I get they must have it coated to prevent rust and keep it nice and shiny, but it's a coal grate, come on. Some may debate the real risk, but why bother with the zinc coating? Am I missing something or is all the buzz over zinc coated hardware just fluff?

I been preachering that they still use galv. it and old wives tale. but of course if you weld on it it could make you sick also if you eat too much bbq you could get sick.

That is probably Aluminized steel. It looks like Galvanized but it is safe.

If you have ever seen the Old Smokey brand grills and smokers, that is what they are coated with.
