I’m looking for real grill utensils that are built to last tired of the cheap chinese stuff.

Whatcha got?

Count me in on this ride! I've been looking for a good set of grill tools for a couple of years now. I bought a pair of cooking tweezers that said they were made in Switzerland, but they're Chinese. I bought some spring loaded tongs from Restaurant Depot that were made in USA, but they're flimsier than the Chinese ones they sell. I also bought a set of Wusthof tools that the vendor claimed were made in Germany, but they were Chineseum junk too - back they went. I haven't had much luck.

However, I can help with some other things. Brushtech grill brushes are made in USA. Dexter Russell is made in USA and I really like their Sani-safe handled knives, spatulas and griddle scrapers made with Dex-steel. I wish Dexter made tongs.

I've got some vollrath pans and spatulas (Thomas Keller uses the same spatulas in his MasterClass, thought that was neat). I see they also make tongs. I get mine from webstaurant store . Com. I also have a few wood handled spatulas from the same store (not vollrath though) that have been solid. Also have a cleaver I got from Amazon and it's a sturdy knife. Made in China but that's not necessarily always bad in terms of durability. Also have some Dexter knives which are amazing for taking with me to places I don't want to take the nice Japanese stuff to.

Are there particular utensils that you’re looking for?

In particular? Spatula(s) and a pair of tongs that have spatula ends as opposed to the regular cupped ends, and a pair of tongs with the cupped ends.

I wonder how well a metal scale removal brush used by a blacksmith would work as a grill brush? I know some of those are US made.

Probably to stiff, those wires are hard!

Sam's use to have heavy duty stainless cupped tongs. But, they require a lot more grip pressure. So, I only use them on big stuff like a chuck, that I have to grip hard. I roll with the cheap chrome ones most of the time because they are so nimble for stuff like wings and sausages. I hate those ridiculous 2 foot long tongs that come with the bbq sets!

I’ve tried differs tongs over the years and my favorites are the cheap stainless 16” ones from a Resturant supply store near me. They are a few bucks a piece and I always have a few of them in the kitchen. Here is a link to similar ones: https://www.therestaurantstore.com/items/500083

I also have the tongs from Sam’s and they aren’t as long and don’t last as long.

I also like the long spatulas from the Resturant supply store near me. Something like this one. https://www.therestaurantstore.com/items/66192
Or this one. https://www.therestaurantstore.com/items/68796

The dexter Russel clone knives and cutting boards from sams are surprisingly good for the price.

I do have the long dexter Russel brisket knife that Aaron Franklin uses and really like it.

Here is the knife: Dexter-Russell Sani-Safe Scalloped Roast Slicer, Carbon Steel Blade, 12-Inch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004NG98RI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_7RqGEbGVZBNZZ

Here is the guard for the knife: Dexter Outdoors 12⅜" x 11/2" Guard Narrow Knife https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001DXOZHC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_SSqGEbBVZ2VS4

See if there is a Resturant supply store near you. You can usually get fairly good cooking utensils for dirt cheap prices.

I didn;t read all the posts, so if someone else said it...Sorry.
My favorite utensils:
My wife put a set of PigTail flippers in my Xmas stocking. Love em!!
Sturdy steel wont bend. Haven't touched any other utensils since. (unless making burgers)
Also use a BullyBar to clean the grates.
