I'll be in KC tomorrow with family and thought we'd give Arthur Bryant's a try. It looks like there's a couple locations. Should we go to the original location or is the food and atmosphere good at the other spots? Thanks.

Go to the Original as long as it is light out. Its not in the best part of town. The one in the Casino (Ameristar) is ok, but if you cant go to the Original, I would go to the one out at The Legends by the Nascar track. There are slot of shops out there to.

The original is in a class by itself. Here's a tip though, have the brisket. That's what they're famous for and that's what they're good at. The sliced pork is pretty good too and the fries, but many people order the ribs, pulled pork and even the burnt ends and are dissapointed. They were open for 75 years before they even served pulled pork!
I like the brisket and sliced pork combo sandwich.

Ditto on the good Doc's comments.

The original is the one you should go to - the other locations are ones where the naming rights were purchased by another restaurateur; and they are not like the original in terms of "the joint".

Brisket is thier strong point -it is about the only thing I like there. The sausage is ok too... but I would definately get the brisket.

There are several threads in here on good KC joints to hit. You might try to knock out a couple while you are here :)

I appreciate the feedback, we'll hit the original spot even though the wife wants to shop out by The Legends. Thanks for the advice on what to eat as well, I'll get the brisket. Thanks

I disagree with Ray about the burnt ends. They are the best in the city. Get burnt ends and/or brisket with fries and a LARGE red cream soda. At the original spot, there is no finer meal in Kansas City. To me, if you aren't eating at the original, you are eating at Bryants.

Their sauce is a little different. You either learn to love it or hate it.

You forgot the Strawberry pop, I do that rather than cream soda. And it has to be the white label that says Strawberry. As for the Burnt Ends, I agree also.

I had the burnt ends sandwich, fries and red cream soda. I'm not much for lots of sauce and the burnt ends were basically smothered in sauce, which I didn't care for. They were tender enough, just too saucy for my liking. My wife had spare ribs and she commented that my ribs are better. I did try one of the ribs and thought they were a tad dry.

It's a neat restaurant with lots of history, but my next time down to KC I'll give another joint a try.

Got that right. Try LC'c over on the east side over by the stadiums. You will not be dissapointed.
