Food warmer cabinet smoker?

DISCLAIMER: I'm a novice, no laughing please...

I turned food cabinet into a smoker (or at least tried to), anyone has ideas how to make one or plans? I have access to another food cabinet warmer...
I'm stuck on how to do a fire box/ I cut door so the top is 3/4, and the bottom is a 1/4 for the wood, how do you put a damper on?
Would I make it just like a drum smoker?

Roy,
There is very little laughing "at" here;
lot's of laughing "with"!
and plenty of guffaws, ironic humor, dry and smoked-sweet to boot.
Post pics if you can, there are some real good folks here that can add some helpful comments and advice.
