Q For The Kids Needs 2 Teams
Q for the Kids, Fairbanks, Indiana, June 6-7. This is a nice little 2nd year contest, very cook friendly. 20x40 space standard. Free Ice, T shirt, no charge for water and electricity. Pot luck dinner on Friday night. Right now they need two more teams to be a qualifier. They are already a state championship, KCBS sanctioned contest.
We'll be there. Hope to see some of our friends from the forum from Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, and Michigan. For those that have never competed this would be a great chance to dive in. Plenty of friendly teams willing to help out a new team. http://www.fairbankscommunitycenter....the%20Kids.htm

Q For The Kids - Fairbanks Indiana
Thanks Double D for the posting, we are really looking forward to our 2nd annual comp here in Fairbanks. We are located 20 miles south of Terre Haute in case anyone was wondering..... little bitty town with a community center that has TONS of room for a huge BBQ Competition. Reps said we could hold 100. Come early and stay late if you will be going on to Mt Vernon the following week you are welcome to leave your rig parked here and it will be safe as if it were parked at home. If you have any questions please contact us at [email protected]
Hope to see you there! Brian & Patty Lenges Q For The Kids Event Organizers |

So if I could make it, does this mean I would not be eligible???? Sounds like a good cause and lots of fun... good luck to everyone.

Bill, does this mean your thinking about it? Would love to see you again after cooking next to you in Norfolk last year. I just thought that with the price of fuel, it might be a stretch to see you guys there but let me officially extend the invitation out to all 50 states, Washington D.C, all U.S. territories and all countries not on the evil doers list. Did I leave anyone out now?
So which team is going to be #25 and make this event a qualifier with a chance at the Jack at the American Royal? You'll be treated like royalty for sure! Again, very nice contest for a good cause, hope to see everyone there! Dallas

Sure would be nice to be there, but I do have to work that weekend, and yes, with the price of fuel etc... that would be a pricey one..... would be good to see you and some of the others again.... maybe one day.

Any chance you might make it Kevin? One more team takes it down to just one needed! Kevin can you edit your list and add Rolling Ribs. They are a recent addition and that will bring the total to 23.
Thanks, Dallas

prize money split
how are they splitting the prize money? My work calendar looks good and I got the OK if I promise to win enough to pay for the trip with winnings. Here I am thinking about doing back to back again. What an idiot.

It sounded like a committment to me. I hate to talk the guy into it. He's a great cook and competitor and will probably win the contest.
Ford, in my best Bobby Flay imitation, I challenge you to a throwdown! And as we all know on that show the guy throwing down the challenge almost always loses. Should be interesting. FEC's vs. FEC's. Johnny Trigg and Rod Gray alum's trading jabs in friendly but spirited competition. Is anyone else up to the challenge or are you just plain chicken (Marty McFly imitation)? Hope to see a few more Brethren there!

Not sure. It depends on getting the OK from work. Just cause my calendar is clean doesn't meant they want me to take time off. Need 3 approvals. I'll call you when I know for sure. Keep looking for a chicken cook for #25 as I'll be reall P.O.'d if it's not a qualifier. I'm already doing one of those the following weekend.

I dont think chicken cooks cut it anymore. I think to be a qualifier for the Jack and Royal each contestant has to cook all four categories.
Here is the information from the Jack Daniels Site: Criteria Effective May 1, 2007:

that's good news Randy. I always thought contests that did the chicken cook shouldn't count. Now if somebody plans to turn in 4 but has a problem with one then it should still count.
