Can you sharpen it?

Yes I've sharpened knives, plane irons, chisels and scissors--all razor sharp. Anything with a straight edge I could do, but have never sharpened serrated. I've sharpened saw teeth and scrapers as well.

In fact, I had to sharpen & hone this Victorinox 12" slicer I got. It was a little dull, but still very sharp.

I hone it before each use--same with my Chef's, boning & paring knives.

Farmer, did you buy or make a sheath for it? How do you safely store it?

It looks like a toy with the rounded end, could fool people. Even I have to think about it and take it seriously, knowing there is a crazy sharp edge on it, heh.

My dog gets too close to me when I'm cutting with it as well. It hangs over the counter cause it is so long. I'm gonna have to keep her away when I'm cutting--she likes to jump up on me.

Sorry I didn't actually mean can you sharpen knives.

I meant could it be sharpened.

It can be sharpened for a lifetime :) You can put an entire new edge on it when it starts micro-chipping just by using some flat glass and 220, 500, 1000 grit sand paper, followed by a sharpening stone. (That's how I put a new edge on my Victorinox 8" chef's knife anyways--it had gotten really dull and chipped because at the time I didn't know how to sharpen knives.)

So farmer, read up and answer mah question! About storing this knife safely.

I see several versions of these via a google with varying prices. Which model is this knife? I'm looking cheap...

I got this one:

EDIT: WHAT THE HECK!! I got it for $45 the other day now it's $58! Amazon is annoying with their prices.. they did the same thing with some pub glasses I just bought recently... few days later jacked up price by like 30%. Anyways I wouldn't give them greedy suckers more than $45.

I have that exact same knife, and use a slip on cover like this one: I also have a 14 inch LamsonSharp knife that I use the same style cover on it, they work great!
