Ok lets try that again.
Wanted to Q some food the way I wanted to for a change. No worrying about appearance, or flavor profile, or parsley beds. This was gonna be for my tastebuds! Started with a pack of drumsticks. uploadfromtaptalk1300755534349.jpg Seasoned them with an experimental rub I just made with this as the lemon part. uploadfromtaptalk1300755621099.jpg 2 parts crushed Lemon Heads 2 parts Coarse Black Pepper 1 part Lawry's 1 part Butter Buds uploadfromtaptalk1300755734835.jpg Put them on the drum running about 350* uploadfromtaptalk1300755801313.jpg 30 mins later I turned them and put on the sausage. No pic here. Got to work on the beans by slivering up a half pack of bacon and frying it off in a pot. uploadfromtaptalk1300755956586.jpg Added four large diced jalapenos, with the seeds and ribs removed, and cooked until tender. uploadfromtaptalk1300756068520.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1300756096418.jpg Added two large cans of Bush's Original, along with some cheap off the shelf BBQ sauce and some cane syrup, and finished cooking. uploadfromtaptalk1300756259739.jpg About that time the chicken and sausage were ready to come off. uploadfromtaptalk1300756321552.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1300756361154.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1300756383365.jpg All done and plated up!uploadfromtaptalk1300756452269.jpg I wish I could say that the flavor from the Lemonheads was really noticeable but not so much. Honestly as much as I loved the chicken and sausage the beans stole the show as far as my tastebuds were concerned. One last chicken pic to end the post! uploadfromtaptalk1300756643813.jpg |

Yeah I'm always trying to come up with something new. Sometimes it works great and other times........well lets not discuss those other times. Like when I thought a rub might be good with alot of Oregano in it. Blech! |

Am I the only one that thinks why bother making baked beans from scratch when Bush's has already done such a great job?
