Bad news everyone...
it's been misting all morning. I think I'm going to through it on around 10:30 anyways. Anyone have any tips on what to do in the rain? I heard somewhere that you should throw a real old quilt on top except where the holes are to keep in the heat. I'm not sure if that's valid at all but just thought I'd throw it out there... |

Just keep the rain from getting into the top vents and you should be fine. An umbrella held onto a lawn chair with a C-clamp works.

A lot of GREAT info for you on this. I'm with Harmening. A mist / light rain won't effect your temps much, however if there is a breeze that will. If you have any wind try to get your WSM out of it. Enjoy your time with the WSM ~ and be sure to get the girlfriend to like the food. Someday you might want another smoker!

I have to agree with what everyone has said.
1.) Keep the girlfreind 2.) Go the virtual bullet link and watch the videos, read the articles, and sign up for the discussion board. Tons of information there. 3.) If all else fails pack up the WSM send it to me and go out for BBQ, with your girlfreind of course.

Well it's 11:21am right now and I have no started yet...
They're calling for 3inches in the afternoon and evening. I was planning to have it ready by 6pm for people coming over. Think I should scrap the idea over the heavy rain? I need your help forum |

I myself don't let the rain bother me unless it is coming down really hard. I like Ron's idea with the umbrella however with wind I'm not sure how that is going to work. What I have done is take some foil and connect it to the handle(be creative) and drape it over the exhaust vent loosely. This will help keep some of the rain out of the cooker and also allow it to vent. I have found that most of the water that sits between the lid and ceter section just evaporates and it is not an issue.
BTW I'm going for the Vikings/Jets however if I had to bet a wsm/house on it, I would say the Saints and the Colts. Get that thing fired up and get you butts on the wsm! Vince

Good luck! LOL Don't stress yourself out and just relax. This will help season yourself for really bad weather cooks!
