Hey you
The wife and I go to a motorcycle rally the Tuesday after Labor Day but we usually leave the Friday before Labor Day, this year we are looking at going to a BBQ contest to watch and got to thinking maybe some team needs help.

There are two contest in Iowa that weekend, either this one or this one , does anyone need help?

We have competed KCBS once but have done about a dozen ribfest's in Minnesota and we also vend BBQ, we are not looking at stealing your info, we are set in our ways and have our own rub and recipes already.

We pull a little camper so it would be perfect if there was room on your site to camp also, the camper takes up about 6 X 14 feet

Sorry so long winded, either way we are coming to watch one of the contest, we thought maybe we could camp at one of them and help out.

Not to confused you further, but there is also one in Wisconsin that weekend.

I would go for the one that is most convenient to your travels. If that doesn't matter and you can wait a couple of weeks to decide there will be Roll Call threads on here 30 days before the event and then you can see which one has the most Brethren teams attending. The Wisconsin comp is brand new so I can't tell you anything about it. The Dubuque one was held three years ago and then they took a break because of construction at the Casino complex. When it was held previously it was well run and there is a casino and water park there so there is other things to do in the area. We've never been to the Ames competition but it is run by a brethren (Musicmanryan) and I have heard very good things about it.

I hope that helped :)

The rally we are going to is in New Hampton Iowa but we like to take the long way to get there, a couple years ago we went through upper Michigan to get there and the year before that we went to Kansas City and ate a bunch of BBQ and the over to St. Louis to see the Arch.

We could just go camp somewhere but why not try to combine another thing we love to do, and we love BBQ

I will look at the Wisconsin contest also, thanks.

Since you have a goldwing, I'd go to Ames. Its straight down the interstate with no turns. Now if a guy was to own an LT, I would suggest Wisconsin, not a straight road in the state. :p

We have a full camp that weekend so wont be needing much help. But stop by to say hi if you end up in Ames. We'll swap some bike stories.

Well, with a little over 102,000 miles on this 2001 Goldwing I have had it on a couple roads with curves, Tail of the Dragon being one of them, I don't know if you have rode the GL1800 but they are not an old mans bike at all

Here is a guy on one the same as mine at Tail of the Dragon

I apologize; I get used to jawing on these boards and forget that we are not all old high school buddies giving each other crap. My father is on his 4th wing and yes they are great bikes. Sounds like you ride a little farther than down the street to bike night as do I. Have a fun weekend and please feel free to stop by if you end up in Ames.

A short video I like to watch on rainy days from a trip we took two years ago down thru Memphis and Little Rock.
