how can you make rub for $2 / lb?
my raw material is more than that? maybe i need a better supplier

Let me see, 1 ciphers into 200. Wait a minute let me count my pennies.
I make mine at 30# at a time. I wish that I could do it for $60.
What is this rub you speak of? Salt, onion powder, garlic powder in a ziplock bag.
Wait, that will be more than $2

I make a pretty basic rub of white sugar, brown sugar, salt, paprika, black pepper, garlic powder and onion powder.

I just did the math using the online prices from a local grocery store and some online spice dealers. I could probably make it a little cheaper, but I came out to $3 per pound.

Unless you are just using brown sugar and salt for a rub I don't see how you could get it down to $2 per lb. Maybe if you buy ingredients by the pallet.

FYI-If you are buying spices from Penzey's or your local warehouse store, you're gonna pay more than Bubba. He goes through tons. Literally.
