Default Quiet Generator

Was wanting to know if anybody has a Kipor IG6000 or has been around them. Are they quiet? Are they junk? They are much cheaper than Honda eu series. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for, but if I can get something that will last for $3000 cheaper I would jump on it.

Any info would be good

Thanks, Tyler

Tyler - I know several people who use or have used Kipors on the circuit here in MO. Some have had better luck than others. I'd say they're average generators overall - certainly not Honda status by any means, but they are much cheaper. Biggest complaint I've heard is for getting parts/service (at least here in the STL area). HTH!

Hi,
A bud had this generator at a comp this weekend:
http://championpowerequipment.com/73531i.php
I am a NASCAR camper and if you have a loud generator, you get your plug wire clipped off. While this generator was not as quite as a Honda, it was darn close.
But the kicker is, they sell for only $500 bucks at Sams Club.
I was standing 3 feet from this generator. A screaming Brigs & Straton was 30 yards away. I could not hear this generator over the B&G!
I would check it out.

I don't see any DB ratings in the manual. It does look a lot like a Honda EU2000.

Kipor 6000 is not a "quiet" generator. Look for the decibel stats and compare to Honda. the 2000 and 3000 are quiet however there are again service issues from what I have read. Spend some time with google and Kipor and service.

Jeez, at the drag races we offer loud generator people a cord from our quiet one.

The Champion at Sams varies from 53-65 dbA
A comparable honda, the EU2000i varies from 53-59 dbA.

So, with no load they are about the same, but under 100% load the Champion is much louder. 6 db difference = 4 times as loud.

Having said that.. it's still quieter than the Honda EU3000.. and being 4 times as loud as a EU2000 is still pretty stinking quiet.. especially considering the price difference.

Tyler - I've got one of the 6k and its not bad - around 70db. Its def louder than the Honda's, but not terrible by any stretch. It really depends on the load you're running out of it, as when it powers up you'll notice it the most. If you could build a simple box for it with some sound dampening, you'd not notice a difference and still save the money

I recently purchased the Champion 73531i. When operating in the Econ Mode they are very quiet.

I purchased a rebuilt one for $250.00. Their warehouse is in the city I live in, so I went on over and I could see how they rebuild them and picked one out. So far, Im very happy with the purchase.

Thanks for the info. Anything will be better than my Generac with the "low tone" muffler.

The reviews that I mostly seen on the Kipor is the battery was dead when some people recieved them. I also looked on you tube and it seemed like they are fairly quiet.

I need a minimum of 5500 running watts to run my entire trailer. Honda EU is what I want but will have to hold off because of the price. Hopefully wherever we vend or compete has power. Where I roadside vend I have 220 power.

Battery was dead when I got my 6000. A quick trip to BatteriesPlus for an ATV Battery Charger and it was good to go. It will def. be quieter than the one you have noe and isn't the loudest generator out there. I'm happy with mine, but usually can get enough power at a contest. As of now, its serving as backup in case something happens. Def. worth it

try google like I suggested. A lot of RV dealers no longer carry them as well. Some support is only for older models. Not sure what the deal is but it was enough to stop me from buying one.
