Looking for an all around chicken seasoning. What do you guys use baking and grilling?

thanks!

For general cooking, I like to use Zehnder's chicken seasoning.

I grew up going to Zehnder's every year when we would spend a week or so in Michigan visiting family after my parents and I moved away when I was 6.

I hate to sound like a broken record...but SPG is it for me. Light smoke at a high temp, sauce about a half hour before getting it done. SPG is great for grilling chicken as well.

Cavenders Greek Seasoning goes on all my poultry. It's at every grocery store I know of.

Got this recipe from a Greek guy on another forum. This is one of the few rubs/spice mixes I actually make.

Pags Greek Rub

2 tsp dried parsley flakes
2 tsp dried oregano (preferably Greek)
1 ½ tsp pepper
1 tsp salt, sea, or kosher, or iodized
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp corn starch or arrow root
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp beef bouillon granules or powder without MSG
1 tsp mustard powder
1 tsp lemon zest
½ tsp meat tenderizer without MSG
½ tsp celery salt
¼ tsp cinnamon powder
¼ tsp nutmeg powder
¼ tsp ground thyme

I'm back to chicken rub #2:

I really like Chupacabra Rub, A fine meat rub on chicken. I also like the Hasty Bake Gourmet Greek seasoning.

If you are looking for a commercial rub, Oakridge Game Bird and Chicken Rub is hard to beat.

If you're looking to make your own, Moose's #2 is also a good choice.

Moose’s Chicken Rub #2
http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2112778&postcount=1

Makes 3.5 oz

4 Tbsp smoked paprika (regular paprika can be substituted)
4 Tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp chili powder
2 Tbsp smoked salt, ground fine (sea salt is also fine)
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp fried thyme
1 tsp fresh ground pepper
1 tsp ground coriander seeds
½ tsp cumin
1 tsp dried sage
½ tsp dried rosemary
¼ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp ground clove
¼ tsp cayenne (add more if you want it hotter)

If you like it hotter, double up the cayenne, but try the rub first as is. This is a lower salt rub, so you may need to add a bit to suit your taste. Also, I wouldn't recommend saucing your chicken when you use this rub. It's a complete stand alone.
STORE remaining rub mixture in airtight container.

¼ tsp ground thyme
That's a lot of salt. I use this one.

Greek Seasoning Blend

Ingredients:

2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon basil
1 tsp sage
1 tsp oregano
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon dill
1 teaspoon marjoram
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
1 teaspoon rosemary
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in blender, grind to a fine powder, and store in an airtight container.

I like SPG and Pork Barrel BBQ's AP citrus and herb seasoning.

I really like Dirty Dalmatian on chicken. Equal parts kosher salt, restaurant grind black pepper and lemon pepper.
