Same here. And the stiffer metal ones work best.

Regarding pizzas... although I am not a big pizza guy, I have seen a pretty slick setup on the newer 2 Star with a pizza stone on 1 grate for the pizza to cook on, followed with a second stone placed on an upper grate right above the pizza (it’s just inches away on the new 2 Stars). The intense radiant heat coming from the top down coupled with the pizza sitting on a stone seems to be a very good setup!

5 min pressure spray to removable parts (will scrape interior walls when the rain stops) and we are good to go. Not sure what y’all’s interior standards are, but this works for me. Don’t judge me pjtexas, at least I cook on the back patio and not the front lawn... lol.

MAK Grills talk/pics/thoughts/reviews and appreciation thread
For as much as you use that thing Robb it's really impressive the shape you keep it in - I'm going rwalters style on a load of burgers tomorrow. Will post pics - my Blackstone is usually my go to burger maker, but man this MAK is great. Wanna see what it can do

What’s funny in that in all the years I have had MAK’s this is only the 2nd time I busted out the pressure washer for it. The only thing I normally do for the interior is give it a good scrape down. Today’s cleaning was COVID-19 induced (aka needing to get outside)... lol. Pretty sure you know how much I LOVE my Camp Chef griddle. Griddled burgers are fantastic!! That said, I more often than not do my burger cooks on the MAK just cuz it’s way more fun and smells way more better and the results are different but equally as good! #makforthewin

I plugged my MAK in, started it and re-enabled web control. About 2 minutes later it was smoking. I'm a bit perplexed as to what to do while it comes up to temp.
It's like the EASY button in smoker form. |

I'm up-and-running on my new MAK 2 Star!
This is one of the nicest things I've ever bought. Taking it out of the carton and seeing the quality and thought MAK put into this, and how it all fits together, made me proud to be an American. Proud to buy American, and to own American. It took me a little while to put it together, and that was worth it. Because now I know how each part of it works, and I can take it apart and put it back together if I ever need to. I posted my first cook, tri-tip, to the main page here: bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=279974 This cooker is sooooo easy to use! It holds temp. The probe is accurate. I have the MAK Mobile web interface and it lets me do anything and know where my cook is at. I can't wait to cook a million things in it. The smoke flavor is very good. You can sear on it! Did I say this thing is quality? Thank you Robb for sharing your knowledge and experience, and not being afraid to encourage others to buy something that has worked so well for you. You were right!!! And thank you to Caleb and everyone at MAK. Last edited by Johnny in L.A.; 03-28-2020 at 07:25 PM.. |
