Default When and how do you use your charcoal basket?

Is it just for long cooks? All the time? The Party Gator will be my first offset so just trying to get an idea of when to use. Any pictures or videos of how you set up your basket?

I got a basket with my Gator and I have never used it. I burn all sticks all the time.

I had one built for my Kingfisher and use it all the time. It keeps even a stick fire all in one spot. I get a better controlled coal bed. I normally start with 3/4 bag of Kingsford and 3 splits...then add splits as needed. YMMV!

I seem to be using just the vertical chamber of my smoker more than the horizontal lately, so I use my charcoal basket for the over night cooks on it so I can get some decent sleep.
