Pineapple Smoker - BDS Clone
Been wanting to build a BDS clone. Bought two used drums which formerly held pineapple, hence the name. You have seen these green drums on posts here before. Bought some parts, burned it out, and went to work. All hardware is stainless except the grill and expanded metal.
Fired it up to season it with 10 lbs of Best Choice lump and three good size chunks of hickory. GOTTA buy a weed burner! Things get exciting dumping a full chimney of lit lump inside this thing.  It burns fine and holds temperature really well. I shut it down after 9 hours. Need to fine tune the air flow regulation a bit, no biggie. I know about the valve thing, but I wanted the BDS look.Note the smoker is painted SILVER. More about that later.  Here are some pics -

Very cool Mike!!! I love it .....The Pineapple smoker.
 Care to explain the color choice, or should we save that for another day....I do think it is a fasinating fact though!

Mike if that lid is too hot for gloves.. which I doubt. You might consider a dutch oven lid lifter. Might require a mod or two for balance though

It's fine with leather work gloves. I think a wood handle is the next thing.
