Default Maverick probe problems with WSM 14

I have the maverick 733 and I already have to replace a probe. The rubber that connects the metal probe with the wire fell off, and a wire came disconnected from the probe. I was thinking of buying tape to resolve this issue. What is a link to some heat/fire proof tape and/or another way to resolve this issue? 15$ for a probe is a bit much to last only a few weeks. I think this was due to the rubbing of the probe on the grommet in the cooker. Thank you all, and happy Father's Day gentlemen!

I think you will need a new lead. If it was me I'd use that Maverick for target practice and invest in a Thermo Works> Buy once Cry once or an Oregon Scientific that is what I have I don't use it except on temp critical meats maybe 6- 10 times a year. But It has never given me a lick of trouble in the 8 or so yrs I have had it.

Blu, You must be slipping, I expected you to tell him to throw the unit away and use the probe to test for being done and tender. LOL

I tape all my probes with that metal heater duct tape you can buy in almost any stores, and blu the maverick has better range than the blu tooth unit thermoworks sells. I have a first gen maverick going strong with taped probes.

High heat RTV silicone. Place a bead right where the wire enters the probe...

Water proofing AND wire strain relief!
