Best cut of Venison?

Just to clarify a bit. You will not find US raised whitetail/mule deer venison in any store. It has not been legal since conservation efforts in the early 1900's in the US. There were very few whitetail deer due to market hunting etc. The venison that is for sale may be elk, or fallow or sitka deer that are farm raised in the US. I believe that New Zealand may import some whitetail also.

Not sure about deer meat, but the backstrap loins are by far the best eating on Moose and Caribou!
I'd take them over any cut of beef.

Sources are limited, but it can indeed be found for purchase legally.
