Well, this is a probably obvious but I'll ask anyway since I don't know, but what is the advantage of using pellets versus charcoal in an insulated cabinet? If it is mainly a heat source (and here, I may be wrong...) then is there an advantage over charcoal in that respect or is there a flavor component? I'm trying to understand the feature/benefit of a pellet cabinet versus charcoal cabinet with a Guru? I had though the pellets were mainly a set and forget option. I'm sure I'm missing something, any help is appreciated. I'm not asking about which is better by the way, just trying to get a handle on the pros/cons of this.

Pellets are a fuel source. Yes, most are set and forget,

But many charcoal units become set and forget with Stokers and other automated controllers.

Advantage? My wife can push two buttons and cook ribs. Me, I can cook ribs in either of 4 other units.

Notice I said cook, I still do the prep!

Well, that's a good point! Ok, so it really is more of the convenience - lack of handling coals and hot coals/chimney, etc. I guess cleanup could be less? Don't know. Ok, well, that makes sense anyway. Thanks.

Again, no experience, but assuming a 4 or 6 hour cook at 250 or something like that, really prefer to cook at 275-300 but for comparison is it more expensive to use a load of charcoal or a pellets? There's probably a thread somewhere, I'm just trying to analyze this whole charcoal versus pellets deal. Not sure how hot and fast would work with pellets as far as expense, too.

Ok a little update looks like we will have two pellet component options one will be high end made for daily use{ Catering, Restaurants, or a rigorous competition schedule} and a standard model for the backyarder and weekender schedule. Pricing should come along shorly.

Any photo's yet? we may add a pellet smoker in for next years season. It would be nice if I could add a pellet hopper to my backwoods competitor.
