Like others have already said... I never remove the bark and the food turns out great !

I've never removed bark either, so I agree with the others.

Removing bark would be a lot of work...For that reason I don't...Works fine...With a hot fire there is no bitterness...Most woods will be bitter if not burned properly with or without fire suit...

Sometimes I burn straight Bark that I get from a neighbor who removes all the Bark from his Smoking Wood.

I never remove bark. But you can smoke a chicken with bark only or bark and minimum wood/charcoal to see if it imparts a bad flavor.

Exactamundo!!! If the wood is dry and you're getting a good draft through the cooker there shouldn't be any issues.

Doesn't hurt to do a quick cook with the bark on to see what it does...then go from there.
