I wanted to try my hand at making bbq sauce for some ribs I'm cooking tomorrow. I've seen some really nice silky almost purple looking sauce in videos that just looks like money after they come off the grill. Does anyone have a basic recipe to work off of and what are the ingredients that cause it?

Thanks a bunch and happy smoking

The color is easy, first step is your rub, adding paprika to it, is the easiest way to set some red tone into the outside. In the sauce, using molasses gives a nice dark color and a nice flavor, worchestire sauce is also common. Other flavors that may or may not work with the rest of your flavor profiles are soy sauce, balsamic vinegar (preferably reduced first), chipotle sauce, etc. You can also add a fruit element or cola, this is all trial and error though, I used root beer in my last batch and like it alot.
