I would search daily for a used Lang on Craigslist.

Have you looked at Horizon Smokers? They sell them at bass pro shops, and many places online. Not a reverse flow, but they do make an optional deflector shield that evens out heat. 1/4 steel all throughout so it should be pretty good.

I've seen them cheaper on some other websites occasionally too

How about buying two WSM 22.5"ers and have a shop fabricate a cart for it? Still likely be cheaper than 1000.

Or instead of an offset, why not a vertical smoker?

Didn't think you could get the same sq inch as you could with an offset

in your area...I would go for a Meadow Creek offset (SQ36) or consider their PR42 (the one I have)....dont think I have ever seen a reverse flow of any quality for that price.

I would seriously check out the Meadow Creek cookers based on the size you need....

By my calculations you could build 41 UDS's , have 1 leftover Weber lid , and roughly a 16 lb brisket to put on 1 of them ....

I know a guy who just got that vertical from bass pro and he can cook a TON of food in that thing. Almost taste as good as a stick burner too!

You'll not regret a smoker from them. Little higher than what you were wanting, but it will last you forever.
