Great looking gumbo. The roux looks perfect.

By the way, I didn't see any okra. Did you use filé as a thickener?

i generally don't use okra in my gumbo. sometimes we use filé on a bowl by bowl basis, but our family has always made a thinner, more soup-like gumbo.

I like the idea of adding the filé per bowl. Some of my friends and guests don't understand the gumbo thing and never thought about adding filé at the table...

If Bluesman and cameraman don't not finish it all I'll have some too!
