I've been a Traeger owner since 1995, starting with the old green BBQ 100. I now have a new Lil Tex. Yes, the old one was heavier duty steel, but the new one comes up to temp MUCH quicker, and is far and away a better design. I love my new Traeger! Highly recommended!

check CL like a fiend , thats how I found mine , made in Mt Angel Or. for $250.00 , all i have done was replace the hot rod ($35.00) and add an Ortech Controller ($70.00) so for $355.00 i have an $700.00 Treager , easier to work on than an old toyota , for grilling I use one of my many other options listed in my signature

I've been very happy with my Yoder. Solid construction, great smoke flavor and lots of configuration options. An all around all-star.

I bought a Traeger last year to see if I liked pellet cooking. The Yoder was my decision for a year and a half before I bought it, I just wanted to make sure I liked cooking with pellets before dropping big bucks. The Traeger wasn't bad, but left a lot to be desired. Everything I would have wanted to change about it, Yoder already had on their units, so that just solidified my decision.

I have cooked on a Traeger, Blazin' Grill Works and Yoder. IMO the quality of everything about the cooker and the food has been better on the Yoder. And their customer service is amazing also.

I have cooked on them all. None of them are great grillers. The best griller of the bunch is the gmg. The best temp control(PID) , largest hopper, stainless internals, best warranty..... Is the rec Tec. You already know my answer. the rec Tec is by far the best bang for your buck pellet grill made. With a few simple mods, the rec Tec or traeger can be good grillers also.

Default Green Mountain Grill

I own two of the grills you are considering and do think that for the bucks, it is hard to beat the Green Mountain grill. Here are some of the advantages that sold me on the grill.

Head space...

With over 13 inches in head space, you can easily double the capacity of the cooker with a full second grid. Enough space for a case of butts.

Then again, you might like a rotisserie

Hot breaded wings

Again, with the 13" of head space, you have room for some rib tips over your pit beans.

It's also pretty easy to set the cooker up for high temp grilling at the tip of a flame.

I also like the low temp of 150 degrees for my jerky and the upper end at 500 degrees for my baking.

Pizza on a raised hearth.

Hearth bread

Focaccia bread and all of the above done on the Green Mountain grill.

It also cooks quite well in the Winter time at the lower temps.

Ron is correct on the Memphis one. I love that thing. I'm not sure if it helps, but here's a comparison guide I made earlier this year. It doesn't have all the information, but some comparison information.
