Apple, maple and cherry are milder than pecan (I believe) and would make good blends.
Try different smoke woods out to see what results you get and which you prefer.

All the above are good suggestions. I usually try and only blend 2 smoke woods together. You may find that you like one over another though, so it's best to try what you can.
I would think in general, though, that you'd be best off to go with other milder flavored woods instead of something really strong like mesquite or hickory. Fruit woods would probably work well.

I usually use apple and pecan, with some cherry added for color.

Pecan for the smoke...
Oak for the heat.

I've been using cherry and pecan lately for everything. I like the flavor from the pecan and the color from the cherry.

Ive grown to love pecan. Just wanted to try something different. A friend of mine just cut half a truck load for me. I appreciate all the feedback from everyone.

For pork, I really like pecan chunks topped with cherry chips. I also like apple chips, but lately I've been sticking with cherry.
