Well were we live mostly Hickory & Mesquite is all that are available & sold and we use Mesquite most prevedantly but here is my 1st crack at a different smoke:

Yep cherry is awesome with pork and it smells unbelievably good while smoking

You won't be disappointed. Fruitwoods in general are great with pork and poultry. Cherry's one of my favorites.

I love cherry with salmon. Pretty good for hard boiled eggs as well.

(Usually go with hickory, maple and oak for pork.)
