Default Such Frustration!!!!

Well i figure its time!!! Time to step into the realm of digital thermometers, and yes i know there are other threads covering this topic but this one is mine and i wanna talk about it. I want a dual probe, one that covers both my pit temp and my meat. Problem is the quality seems to be hit and miss with these units some love them others say they suck stay away. The thermapen seems to be a true winner all the time so thats a option for sure but then i still have the issue of the pit temp.

duel maverick seems okay, durability is an issue. same thing on my Guru probes, they goof up, so I made a box the keep the wires from tangling and try to keep kink free..on my rotisiere Soutehrn Pride I use an old fahioned oven thermator to moniter shelf temp when in doubt...and move the inside probe up or down to balance the temp readings

The Maverick works great and has never steered me wrong. I might switch to a different smoker, but I can't give up my Maverick.

The Maverick works great..

I too was torn between the ThermoWorks TW8060 kit and the Maverick 732. I felt the ThermoWorks was a greater quality thermometer with many additional probe options.

I finally chose the Maverick only because it has the wireless receiver. Hence I do not have to go outside to monitor the pit or meat temperatures. I have had it for 2 years without any problems.

Just my two cents.....

Theromworks makes a rock solid one- the makers of thermapen. You can also get it in a bbq kit. My maverick is a very low quality one. Unless there all like that

I have a CDN dual probe that I bought off of Amazon. I have had it for over a year and have not had any issues other than the probe is so big I can’t put it in certain meats. It works great in Boston butts and large briskets but it is too big for chicken or smaller roasts. The other issue I have is when I put in the top of the meat the pit sensor sticks up above the grate where it seems to be a bit hotter than grate level. Plus if you wrap meat the grate probe becomes useless.

ET-732 has worked great for me. I double check food temps with the Thermapen and it is always within a couple of degrees. I did install the grommets on my WSM so that the lid doesn't sit on the probes and I have had no issues.

I dig mine! Biggest advantage to me is being able to leave the lid on until the point where it needs to be checked. For example, when I put a butt on the drum, I don't even come back and check it till it hits 200*. Saves you from lifting the lid during the cook.
