2 questions on mods... Would it be beneficial to extend the smoke stack a couple of feet? How much more fuel efficient would it be if I added a heat deflecter/ griddle below the flip up grill top on the fire box ?

Not too bad. About 25* difference from side to side the best I can tell. It needs about a split an hour to keep her somewhat steady.
