Its a french word, so its all screwed up. Its like the french trinity, so you are not really wrong. Just not totally right. To be honest, I had to look up the exact word and spelling. So I learned something today too.

I made this with leftover chopped smoked chicken for the men in the family while the wives/girlfriends were baking Christmas cookies this weekend. Oven was full of cookies so I used my old man's gasser and it was awesome! I've got leftover filling for a second pie I'll do on the Weber this weekend.

By using my left thumb and right thumb and forefinger!

See if you can visualize this....

Take your left hand and hold it in front of you, sticking your left thumb toward your right. Now put your right thumb and forefinger together with them as parallel as possible (in other words, NOT in the "OK" shape), pushing the pads together. Now place the right digits on either side of the left thumb. With THIS finger position in mind......

I put my left thumb pointing "out" on the "inside" of the dough and then push against that with my right thumb and forefinger pointing "in" on the "outside" of the dough. That starts with one "V", then I just work my way around the pie crust counterclockwise putting my right thumb where my right forefinger was previously and repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat.......

I do like baking pies and just started on chicken pot pies, made two this weekend. But I must say, that the careful attention to fluting makes the presentation so nice. You know the Betty Crocker cookbook photos. Thanks, now I want to make some pie.
